The Outright Bar Review: Leading the Healthy Snack Category?

I probably sound like a broken record by now but I love the bar category, hence me making an Outright Bar review. Being that my background is heavy in this part of the industry, I’m always looking for the next big thing when it comes to healthy snack options.

While many will look at protein bars and nutrition bars as “meal replacements,” I actually see them more as healthy snack options because I really don’t like to substitute them for real food. That being said, I got my hands on a new bar from a good friend of mine, Marc Lobliner, and I wanted to give it an honest shake. And overall, I think you’re going to like what I have to say in this Outright Bar review.

Outright Bar Review

For starters, I want to be completely honest and transparent with you… not only is Marc a good friend of mine as we go way back in the industry together, but he also sent me these bars to give my honest feedback to him (personally). Marc did not ask me to do a review or even mention his bars on social media. He respects the fact that I’ve worked for brands like MET-Rx, Pure Protein, Balance Bar, and Best Bar Ever during my career and sees the value in my opinion from my experience.

However, once I tried the Outright Bar for myself, I couldn’t help but want to talk to everyone about it as I personally loved every flavor (even the ones I normally don’t eat). The information found in this Outright Bar review is of my own, this is not a sponsored review, nor was a paid a dime for it.

To kick things off, let’s get to the nuts and bolts of the Outright Bar review. You want to know what the breakdown is as well as what’s in the Outright Bar itself to decide if it fits your current nutrition plan and if it is something you’d consider implementing. For this Outright Bar review, I grabbed the Oatmeal Raisin flavor from my samples to use for the breakdown but all of the bars are very close to the same macros.

The Outright Bar Review Breakdown

(Oatmeal Raisin flavor)

Calories: 280

Fat: 11g

Carbohydrates: 27g

Fiber: 4g

Sugar: 19g

Protein: 15g

Ingredients

Peanut butter, honey, MTS Nutrition Machine Whey Protein Isolate 90%, rolled oats, raisins, natural flavors.

If you’re keeping track, that’s only six ingredients. Now go look at your favorite protein bar on the market and check the ingredients. You probably see a paragraph, right? I love this about the Outright Bar. It’s clean, it’s simple, it’s delicious. I also like the fact that you can pronounce everything on the ingredient list. There aren’t all of those weirdly named fillers, preservatives, and junk. For that, I tip my hat.

Would I have liked to see more protein in the Outright Bar? Sure. Is it still good for a healthy snack option? Absolutely. Not only that but the Outright Bar is gluten-free and contains no prebiotic fiber or glycerin. (Here is a podcast I did talking about the Outright Bar)

For this Outright Bar review, I tried all five flavors – white chocolate cranberry peanut butter, chocolate chip peanut butter, butterscotch peanut butter, oatmeal raisin peanut butter, chocolate chip almond butter. If you see a common theme here you caught on quick – everything includes peanut butter other than the chocolate chip almond butter. Regardless, it’s the nut butter combined with the honey that helps hold the bars together.

Edit: Since posting this Outright Bar review, they launched a new Banana Walnut flavor. Holy moly, this could be my new favorite flavor. If you haven’t tried this flavor yet, I highly recommend it!

What Makes the Ingredients So Special?

I took a peek at the product page over on Tiger Fitness and wanted to share some key takeaways of the ingredients. Below is their description on the importance of each ingredient.

Nut Butters

A delicious source of monounsaturated fat and protein, this amazing ingredient contributes to sustained energy and a curbed appetite. You feel fuller longer.

Rolled Oats

Full of fiber and a tremendous source of nutrients. Oats are full of antioxidants, contain a powerful soluble fiber known as beta-glucan that helps reduce cholesterol, reduces blood sugar and insulin response and increases good bacteria in the digestive tract.

Honey

The antioxidants in honey contribute to heart health, plus it is full of vital nutrients and minerals. Honey also digests slowly in the body, leading to a sustained and constant source of energy.

Whey Protein Isolate

Free of lactose, this is the gold standard of all proteins with the highest biological value on earth. Whey protein isolate ingredient promotes the growth and preservation of muscle tissue and helps you feel full.

Berries, Raisins, Chocolate Chips, etc.

These taste delicious and make you smile. Smiling leads to a better life.

My Overall Thoughts: The Outright Bar Review

These bars are addicting – no joke. I’ve been eating 2-3 every single day and will be placing an order for more. I had my wife and 4-year-old son try them and they too enjoyed the bars and thought they were delicious. In fact, my son asked me, “Daddy, are those up in your office?” I got the feeling that meant he was going to be looking for them. So, I hid them. (LOL)

Which brings up another point. The Outright Bar is a healthy snack that I wouldn’t feel bad giving my son. All of the ingredients are healthy and natural and 15g of protein isn’t too much for him. I’d allow my son to eat these on a daily basis if he wished.  (here is a piece of content I did on if you can have your kid eat your protein bar)

When it comes to the tastes, the Outright Bar is soft and you can literally taste the freshness and each ingredient added. I can’t say I have an absolute favorite as I was a fan of all five flavors. But it would truly come down to your personal taste and palate on if you would prefer one or more over others.

Overall, I highly recommend these bars. It doesn’t matter if you are an athlete, soccer mom, weekend warrior, child, or grandmother, you can equally benefit from the Outright bar.
