NutraBio Root Beer Float: A Delicious Treat-Like Protein Shake
When it comes to protein powder, I’ll be the first to say that I get incredibly bored with all of the “vanilla” flavors out there (pun intended). I can only drink so many chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and cookies n cream protein powders. Now, I get it. Those are the staples these days and every brand has them. However, THEY’RE BORING! I’m always looking for something unique to catch my attention and try. Recently, I found out that NutraBio was coming out with a new flavor of their 100% Whey Protein Isolate. More specifically, a NutraBio Root Beer Float protein powder. I’m a sucker for root beer floats so, needless to say, I was excited to get my hands on this protein powder and do a review.
NutraBio Root Beer Float Protein Powder Review
I received my tub of protein in the mail and immediately cut open the packaging and grabbed the tub. Off came the seal and before I could even stick my face in the tub to take a whiff, I was immediately slapped in the face with an amazing root beer aroma. If you’re a root beer fan, you know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s undeniable.
I thought to myself that if this NutraBio Root Beer Float protein powder is as good as it smells, the 2lb tub isn’t going to last me very long. Now, each 2lb tub of the NutraBio Root Beer Float comes with 30 servings providing 25g of protein per scoop. Essentially, this product could last you an entire month if you only have one serving per day. And what’s even better is that it’s a high-quality whey protein isolate so even those with sensitive stomachs can use it without digestive issues.
Now, I will say this. The NutraBio Root Beer Float protein powder is a limited edition. My understanding is that this will be a limited run and will not be around as one of their longstanding flavors. Should the protein powder take off, maybe the crew at NutraBio will have a discussion to keep it around? But at this point, all I can say is if you want this NutraBio Root Beer Float protein powder, you better get it NOW before it’s all gone.

Time to Make a Root Beer Protein Shake (or Float)
As mentioned above, the smell of the powder alone blew my mind. Looking inside the tub, the powder was extremely “fluffy” and there was no sort of crystallization of any sorts nor clumps or dense powder. Did I mention how good it smelled? Anyway…
I followed the recommendation on the label and mixed one scoop with 6oz of water in a shaker bottle and shook it up. Popped the top of the shaker and took a sip. First impression was that the taste was on the light side. Refreshing, but light. I was expecting a very heavy root beer flavor but it had a nice mix of both a root beer and a vanilla flavor.
Being that root beer protein shakes aren’t exactly everywhere, it was hard to compare this to something else that is on the market. Years ago, Muscle Milk had a root beer flavored RTD (if you’re looking for an RTD, I created a top 10 list) that was really good and HEAVY on root beer taste. The NutraBio Root Beer Float, in my opinion, is on the opposite side of the spectrum. This in no way is a knock at the product, it’s just “different.” Different isn’t a bad thing.
I would actually consider this protein powder a treat. I could very easily make this root beer float shake at night and be completely satisfied when my sweet tooth hits for something like ice cream. I was pleasantly surprised by how the product overall turned out. And I think many will share that same feeling.
How Would I Score the NutraBio Root Beer Float?
The NutraBio Root Beer Float protein powder is a nice and refreshing protein shake that isn’t overpowering and goes down smooth. It is definitely a nice change from the norm and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a change in protein powder flavors.
I found I enjoyed the NutraBio Root Beer Float protein powder with SUPER cold water. After my first shake with water directly from the door on my refrigerator, I tried again the following day by tossing some ice into the shaker after it was mixed and shaking it up to really chill it and get it cold. I drink my shakes pretty quickly so the flavor wasn’t compromised by the ice melting. Being extremely cold gave it more of that authentic root beer float experience you’d expect.
NutraBio has been coming out with some really cool flavors over the last few years and I’m excited to try more of them. If you have something you’d like to see me review, feel free to let me know and I’ll see what I can do. If the NutraBio Root Beer Float protein powder is something you’d like to try, you can purchase it directly from their website.
All in all, pick up a tub of the NutraBio Root Beer Float for yourself and see what you think. I believe you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the flavor and profile.
