MuscleSport Protein Whoopie Review: Are They Worth It?
When it comes to high-protein snacks, the options usually fall into two categories: dry and bland, or packed with so many artificial sweeteners that they taste like a science experiment gone wrong. But one brand is flipping the script with their MuscleSport Protein Whoopie — cream-filled cookie sandwiches that are slammed with protein, all while not compromising on flavor.
Listen, I’ve been in the game a long time, and I’ve tried every protein cookie, protein bar, protein pastry, protein chips, protein popcorn, protein puff, and the list goes on and on. Were some of them good? Sure. But most of them left you closing your eyes and imagining the flavor was something different.
So, are these little protein-packed delights worth the hype? Let’s dive deeper into the MuscleSport Protein Whoopie.
To preface this article and be clear, this review is not sponsored. I am not being paid to write this article, and, in fact, you may be reading this review before the brand even does. I simply enjoy trying new products and the MuscleSport Protein Whoopie landed on my radar and I wanted to try it for myself and provide you with my opinions. MuscleSport did not tell me what I can and can’t say, nor did they attempt to influence what I wrote.

What is a MuscleSport Protein Whoopie?
If you’ve never had a whoopie pie before, first of all — what kind of childhood did you have? Secondly, MuscleSport has taken the classic, nostalgic treat and given it a high-protein makeover.
To be clear, my wife calls a whoopie pie a “gob.” She’s from Pittsburgh, and apparently, they’re weird out there. I can’t fault her for where she was raised. That said, the MuscleSport Protein Whoopie is on a whole new level of protein treats.
Each Protein Whoopie contains 20 grams of protein, making it a solid choice for muscle recovery or just satisfying a sweet tooth without wrecking your macros. I’ve been enjoying them as an after-dinner dessert or late at night when the kids are eating a bowl of ice cream, and I want to enjoy a treat with them.
The protein whoopies are soft, chewy, and have a creamy filling sandwiched between two cookies. It’s essentially a dessert disguised as a functional food — something the fitness world desperately needs more of.
The Nutritional Breakdown
Before we get too lost in flavor talk (because, trust me, we will), let’s go over the numbers:
- Calories: 320 per whoopie
- Protein: 20g
- Carbs: 39g
- Fats: 9g
- Fiber: 5g
So, while this isn’t a low-calorie snack, it’s definitely a better alternative to reaching for an actual whoopie pie loaded with sugar and empty carbs (or any typical snack option Americans tend to reach for).
Plus, the balance of protein, fiber, and fats helps keep you fuller for longer, making it a decent snack for those needing an energy boost.
MuscleSport Protein Whoopie Flavors: Which One Stands Out?
MuscleSport Protein Whoopies come in three flavors:
1. Monster Cookie
This protein whoopie is for the ultimate cookie lovers out there. What you have here is a mix of cookies, Oreos (they can’t say that, but I can), and M&M’s (again, they can’t say that, but I can). If you want a cookie flavor explosion in your mouth, this one might be your jam.
2. Protella
As the name suggests, this is a play on a certain beloved chocolate-hazelnut spread (I’ll say it since I can… Nutella). It’s rich, creamy, and feels a little indulgent. If you’re a chocoholic, this will probably be your go-to.
3. Oatmeal Chocolate Chip (My Personal Favorite)
I have to say, this one surprised me the most out of all the MuscleSport Protein Whoopies. It’s got that classic oatmeal cookie texture with just the right amount of chewiness, and the chocolate chips add the perfect amount of sweetness. Unlike some protein treats that taste like cardboard, this one actually feels homemade. If I had to pick one to eat for the rest of my life, this would be it.
Are They Worth It?
Let’s be real — protein snacks are hit or miss. I’ve literally thrown away more than I’ve finished due to how bad they are.
And I’m just going to say it and call out every single brand in the industry… In today’s age of mind-blowing flavor systems and experts who flavor things for a living, there is zero excuse not to have your product taste amazing. Shame on you if you approve a product and put it out if it doesn’t taste delicious.
Some protein snacks on the market taste great but have garbage ingredients, while others are clean but taste like I’m being punished for no reason.
MuscleSport seems to have found that sweet spot where you’re getting quality protein, solid macros, and actual flavor that doesn’t make you regret your life choices with their protein whoopie.
The only downside? At $29.99 for a six-pack, they’re not exactly cheap.
But if you’re looking for a high-protein treat that actually delivers on taste, they’re worth keeping in your snack rotation. But I fully understand many will look at the cost and simply reach for a protein shake or a real food option.
If I had to be picky about one other thing, it would be the colors added to the Monster Cookie flavor of the protein whoopies. Now, I can’t fault them as some of the colors are a mix of the milk chocolate pieces (M&M’s), but they did make the protein whoopie blue.
Would I Recommend the MuscleSport Protein Whoopie?
I’m a huge fan of the MuscleSport Protein Whoopie. They’re a win in my book. I’m always looking for new protein snacks that are high in protein and allow me to diversify my snacking options (because you can only eat so many protein bars before they all start tasting the same).
The MuscleSport Protein Whoopie is a fun alternative to your typical protein bar and actually tastes like a treat rather than a chore. If you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth without derailing your diet, these are a solid option.
And if you need me, I’ll be over here hoarding all the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Whoopies. MuscleSport, if you’re reading this — feel free to send a lifetime supply my way.
Also, as boring as it may sound, if you can create a protein whoopie with more of a chocolate cake texture rather than cookie texture and make the filling vanilla to resemble an original whoopie pie, that would be straight-up fire.
