Mantis X10 Elite: The Most Comprehensive Shooting System Ever

How much money would you say you drop on a range session? $20? $50? $100+? Not to mention you either need to drive to the outdoor range or pay to rent a lane at an indoor range (on top of your ammo cost). When you add up all those costs, it may be quite startling and enough to stop your heart for a few seconds. That’s where the Mantis X10 Elite comes in and truly saves the day.

If you’re like me, I’m always busy. I run multiple businesses, have three young children, and my ability to get to the range is extremely limited. To combat this, I’ve found that I love training at home in my basement. Not only is there a full commercial gym in my basement, but it’s also my dry fire range, where I’ve put thousands of trigger presses on my Next Level Training SIRT pistol (a laser dry fire pistol) as well as incorporating my carry pistols into my dry fire practice.

Now, with the Mantis X10 Elite, (click here to get it at the lowest price) it takes my dry fire practice to a whole new level.

Additionally, by incorporating dry fire into your training, you will save a bunch of money by not needing to blow through your ammo inventory. And as we all know all too well, ammo is not cheap these days!

Tactical Hyve did an amazing review of the Mantis X10 Elite, where they show actual images of the app as well as the unit in use. I highly recommend you check out the video below to get an even further in-depth look at the Mantis X10 Shooting Performance System and how the app is vital to improving your proficiency.

Disclaimer: Mantis sent me the Mantis X10 Elite. After testing it, I fell in love and purchased (with my own money) the Glock baseplate that can be used with the Mantis X10 Elite Shooting Performance System. Them sending me the actual unit did not require me to write a review and certainly does not create a biased review, as what’s found in this article are my feelings, feedback, and opinions. I was not paid to write this review or given any sort of guidance as to how I should voice my opinion. I’m simply a gear nut who loves to try out products and report to you anything I find incredibly useful and beneficial.

Mantis X10 Elite: Take Your Training to New Heights

As I mentioned earlier, I use and abuse the heck out of my SIRT pistol for dry fire practice. The tough thing with dry fire practice is that you don’t get any feedback or data to take away that allows you to see the things you need to work on. Sure, you can see the laser of the SIRT, but that’s about it. If you’re a data guy like me, then the Mantis X10 Elite will quickly become your best friend when training.

Unlike laser trainers, shot timers, and the similar, the Mantis X10 Elite provides you with your splits, shot times, qualification scores, training courses, a chart that maps the movement of your firearm before you take a shot, during the trigger press, at the trigger press, and the recoil (or follow through if doing dry fire) — all of which is accomplished through their free app you can download to your smartphone, laptop, or tablet.

And with the MantisX MagRail Glock Baseplate Adapter that I purchased, I can now work drills from the holster — allowing me to train concealed carry and work on my proficiency from the holster by putting the Mantis X10 Elite unit on the bottom of my magazine rather than on the rail.

To ensure you’re training in a safe environment, I like to add a BarrelBlok to my firearm. It has an orange rod that goes through the barrel to show nothing is chambered along with dummy rounds that get inserted into the magazine to show no ammo is loaded while also allowing the slide to be manipulated without locking back.

(It should go without saying, but if using your carry firearm or any actual firearm that is not a laser trainer or blue gun, follow proper gun safety rules and ensure the firearm is unloaded, the magazine is empty, and all live ammo and magazines are kept in a different room away from where you are engaging in your dry fire training.)

Best of all, while my primary use for the Mantis X10 Elite is for pistols, this shooting performance system can be used on rifles, shotguns, bows, and even crossbows. The only thing you need is a standard picatinny/1913 accessory rail.

The Mantis X10 Elite also comes with some adapters as well as a rail system you can attach to a magazine baseplate with some sticky tape (I preferred to purchase the actual Glock Baseplate Adapter).

Circling back to the app, it’s very intuitive and provides a bunch of tests, benchmarks (both timed and untimed), courses, and much more. The app also saves all of your history so that you have something you can go back to and compare your progress from one training session to the next.

You’ll Know More About Yourself Than You Really Wanted to Know

To say that the Mantis X10 Elite humbled me a little is an understatement. I’d consider myself a pretty good shooter, and when using the Mantis X10 Elite, I thought something was wrong with me, like I had tremors or something.

Looking at the data collected showed the movement of my firearm during the shot process. Now, there’s going to be movement no matter who you are due to the nature of holding a firearm out in front of your body. However, I was completely shocked by what the data showed in terms of tracing the movement of the muzzle during the shot process. Clearly, I have some work to put in with the Mantis X10 Elite to improve my skills.

The Mantis X10 Elite provides you with a MantisX Benchmark where you take 10 shots (dry fire or live), and it scores you based on the movement of your firearm during the entire shot process from the take-up, trigger press, recoil management, etc.

Again, I wouldn’t say I’m the best shooter out there, nor the worst, but my MantisX Benchmark score came in at a 95.1. As I work on my skills and train more with the Mantis X10 Elite, I’d like to bump that up to around a 97 or 98 (I can only assume that it’s next to impossible to score a 100 on the benchmark unless you are shooting your firearm rested or on a bench/bag).

Using the Mantis X10 Elite can be done at your own pace. You have the ability to set daily trigger press goals, but you can disregard if you aren’t able to get in some training every day.

That all being said, the app is also able to somewhat diagnose what you’re doing wrong. You are able to:

  • Trace every shot
  • Muzzle trace
  • Trigger control analysis
  • Smoothness analytics
  • Recoil analysis
  • Holster draw analysis
  • Analyze behavior
  • Improve technique
  • Track your history
  • Look at consistency comparisons

I mean, it covers it all.

While it may not be 100% accurate in diagnosing your behavior, it helps look at some common issues for if you’re shooting low and left, low, high, etc., and provides you with an illustration of what you could be doing wrong and how to fix it.

Why the Mantis X10 Elite Shooting Performance System is a Must-Have

The Mantis X10 Elite Shooting Performance System may seem like it has a high price tag, but honestly, the amount of data you get through its use (both live fire and dry fire) is invaluable.

When using it during dry fire practice, think about all the money you’ll save working on your skills without lighting money on fire with every press of the trigger. You’ll save thousands of dollars extremely quickly by simply utilizing the Mantis X10 Elite Shooting Performance System. You’ll also be able to see what’s working and what’s not in terms of reducing recoil and getting tighter groups at the range.

Not to mention, it’ll help you diagnose your issues so that you know what you need to work on rather than going and training only to create bad habits that’ll be challenging to fix due to the amount of repetition you went through. And the ability to put the Mantis X10 Elite on your Glock baseplate by swapping it out, like what’s shown below, is a complete game-changer.

Overall, I can’t say enough good things about the Mantis X10 Elite. This shooting performance system is unlike anything I’ve ever seen or tried, and I’m certain that over time with the use of the Mantis X10 Elite, I’m going to become a better shooter — hands down.

They also have a Mantis Blackbeard that I really want to try out for the AR-15 platform. It’s a bolt/charging handle combo that you swap out, along with a dry fire magazine. You can get it with a laser system, and it allows you to use your actual trigger without the need to work the charging handle to reset your trigger (pretty cool stuff).
