A Look into Full Spectrum Hemp Oil with Dean Donlon
CBD is a huge topic these days and with more and more research coming out, the benefits seem almost endless. That’s great news for those interested in using such a product to help with health issues and ailments. One specific product, Full Spectrum Hemp Oil, is also gaining much attention and is actually a product that I’ve tried for myself with great success. Because of this, I reached out to an expert in the industry when it comes to Full Spectrum Hemp Oil and CBD in general. Here is an interview I did with Dean Donlon to help shed some light on the Full Spectrum Hemp Oil topic.
For those who don’t truly understand the whole CBD craze and the benefits from its use, can you give us a quick background on why someone would want to consider using a CBD product?
Well Matt, let me start by clarifying that I believe in Full Spectrum Hemp Oil more so than just CBD. CBD is only one of over 113 identified cannabinoids in Cannabis plants and the benefits from using the whole plant significantly outweigh the benefits of just CBD.
Why would someone want to use Full Spectrum Hemp Oil containing CBD? Its known to naturally assist with:
- Inflammation
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Addictions
- Pain
- Stress
- Nausea
- Glaucoma
- Insomnia
- Arthritis
- Cognitive Impairment
- AND it’s even safe for your PETS!
I would suggest anyone interested in CBD do research on the benefits and efficacy of Full Spectrum Hemp Oil vs CBD Isolate as there is a big difference and you will not see the effectiveness of using Cannabis Hemp when using a CBD Isolate as you do not get the benefits of the entourage effect.
A lot has changed in the CBD world since our last interview. Can you tell us about some of the most recent changes?
Well as you know the 2018 Farm Bill has passed so a lot has changed since the last time we got to catch up! On top of that, there has been quite a bit more research coming out on the efficacy of full plant medicine over isolate.
There are also a lot more brands now out on the market and a lot more companies to be wary of as there are a lot of scams in the Hemp and CBD world, from quality issues to MLM scams overcharging, so extensive research or finding a friend who is educated enough on the topic is a key. There are some really large brands with great marketing but as we know from the supplement industry branding and marketing doesn’t mean quality…
What is the Farm Bill and what does it mean to the general public?
The 2018 farm bill or Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 is legislation that reauthorized many expenditures in the prior United States Farm Bill: The Agricultural Act of 2014. The $867 billion reconciled farm bill was passed by the Senate on December 11, 2018, and by the House on December 12. On December 20th, 2018 it received the President’s signature and became law.
What does it mean for the general public in relation to Hemp? Well…
- Cannabis plants above 0.3% still are defined as Schedule 1 drugs, though licensed hemp producers can’t be charged with a crime if their hemp exceeds the THC limit, making it marijuana.
- But THC that comes from hemp is no longer a controlled substance.
- The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) must develop national hemp regulations “as expeditiously as practicable,” which is an uncertain time frame. The national plan must include procedures for checking hemp plants’ THC content and plans to destroy plants with too much THC.
- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) retains authority over foods, drugs, and cosmetics. That means that while CBD becomes legal Jan. 1, it doesn’t mean it is legal to add hemp or CBD to food products or dietary supplements.
- States, territories and Indian tribes have no deadline to submit hemp-regulation plans to the USDA. But once they submit a proposal, the USDA has 60 days to approve or reject it.
- If a state’s hemp-oversight plan is rejected, growers there will be “subject to a plan established by the (USDA) to monitor and regulate that production.”
- The USDA has one year to study the 42 hemp states’ progress with the plant and “determine the economic viability of the domestic production and sale of industrial hemp,” with the findings due to Congress.
With so many companies jumping into the space, how do you filter through the good ones and the ones who are simply trying to capitalize on the CBD boom?
That’s a very good question, Matt! It is unfortunate that so many companies and brands are just trying to “ride the wave” of the Hemp movement and use CBD as a marketing tool to make money with no concern for the quality of the product they introduce to the market. The best way to avoid a bad experience or inferior quality is research and education, get informed, of course, I am going to take this opportunity to plug in Nutra Zenaca in which you can find on Amazon with a quick search. Nutra Zenaca makes an extremely high-quality Full Spectrum Hemp Oil.
I think there is some confusion surrounding CBD quality and types today. Can you explain what the difference is between Isolate and Full Spectrum Hemp Oil (or any of the others out there)?
I knew you were going to ask this since I have been preaching Full Spectrum Hemp Oil throughout the interview already…
Simply put Full Spectrum Hemp Oil is more effective than any Isolate for many reasons but the primary difference I like to discuss is the benefits of the entourage effect received from Full Spectrum that is lost with any other type of product.

There are all sorts of claims and marketing coming out that I would call snake oil, for the most part, for example, some companies are marketing Full Spectrum THC Free as if they have a Full Spectrum Hemp Oil with Zero THC, if you see this claim it is false and not scientifically possible as it defies the meaning of Full Spectrum which refers to the whole plant… There are also many companies claiming they have better bioavailability and special technology that makes their product better, for the most part all of this is just marketing tricks and I would be cautious of buying into any of the claims made about better bioavailability than the competition unless you do your research and find out who is making better quality products but don’t believe what you see on everyone websites and advertising.
If you want Zero THC products for any reason there are some good Isolate based products, however, if you want the best product for the most benefit you need to use Full Spectrum Hemp Oil.
Another thing to watch for is carrier agents and flavoring, like most products the more natural the taste the better health benefits you are likely to get. For example, with Nutra Zenaca we decided to use Hemp Seed Oil as our carrier over MCT/Coconut Oil due to the additional health benefits Hemp Seed Oil provides and the over usage of MCT oil for many people today. Hemp Seed Oil offers immense health benefits you don’t get with the most other carries that most companies use like MCT or Coconut Oil.
When it comes to CBD, is there an ideal form – such as capsule vs liquid?
In my opinion, I would say softgels/capsules will become the standard form of use, of course, tinctures are said to have a higher bioavailability when you let it set under your tongue before swallowing. However, due to ease of use and controlling the suggested serving size better than with a tincture, I expect softgels to become the most used form as the market stabilizes.
If someone has never tried CBD products in the past, what is a good starting dose they should consider?
I would start with a lower concentrate, something around a 15mg serving and adjust as needed, if you find you need a higher serving to gain the preferred effectiveness then you can increase the amount as needed.
I’m going to ask you to look into your crystal ball to close out this interview and tell us where you think the CBD market will be in the coming years. Will it continue to boom or will it level out or even decline?
Well, I don’t have a crystal ball, but my thought is the market will stabilize and level out and the “CBD everything” craze will calm down and be looked at more as a daily supplement like vitamins and nutritional supplements.
